Unified sports is all about everyone deserves to play! This program promotes inclusion by bringing students with disabilities together as teammates. Our group of students met other students from around the region worked together to learn more about the concept of inclusion in sports, discussed best practices for activation, and a plan of action for advocacy within their respective schools.
"We had a great day and our students, as always, showed up to be AMAZING! We learned a lot as a group and have plans moving forward to promote more inclusive activities in our school community for unified sports.
One of the tasks the students were asked to complete was to brainstorm a poster that represents Granville. Our students worked so well together and came up with an awesome concept of "Granville Always Picks Up!" When unified sports calls, we pick up! The poster is currently hanging in the High School main office." - Coach Barber
Here are a few pictures from their day.
Thank you to Katie Barber, Granville Jr/Sr High P.E. Teacher and Special Education Teacher, Jessica Sheldon for taking our students on an educational adventure. To learn more about unified sports in our region visit https://www.specialolympics-ny.org/capitalregion/

The Granville PTO Spirit Week at MJT and GES was a blast! Here are some pictures to highlight all the fun at school: Which is your favorite? It's the Dress Like a Teacher Day for us with the lanyards, the Mr. Tuttle and Mr. Vaughan look-a-likes, and Principal Taylor dressed up as student with a student dressed as her! Go Horde! #granvilleny #granvillecsd Thank you to the families for sharing your photos. More pictures on Granville NY PTO Facebook page.

We wanted to take a moment to highlight and introduce the administrators leading our Granville schools.
We asked them what's one thing they like about working at Granville CSD, and here's what they shared:
"One of my favorite things about working here is the atmosphere that our staff and student body has created thus far. Everyday that I get up, I am excited to come into our building, and that is a testament to our faculty and student body in the Junior/Senior High School. " - Principal Nassivera, Granville Jr/Sr High (Pictured in grey jacket)
"I love the small town feel, and the big opportunities we offer at Granville CSD! I am never bored and l love introducing our students to what they can do here." - Mr. Burton, Dean of Students, Granville Jr/Sr High (Pictured in blue jacket)
"One of my favorite things about working here is watching teachers and students succeed — and sometimes watching students try to negotiate like seasoned lawyers over playground rules!" - Principal Ten Eyck, Granville Elementary (Pronounced 10 Ike; pictured in light blue jacket)
"One of my favorite parts of working here is getting to see the transformations that students make throughout the course of the school year. Their abilities with both academics and social-emotional learning grow so much between September and June. I feel grateful to be part of this journey with them." - Principal Taylor, Mary J. Tanner Primary (Pictured in black jacket)

The absolute best place for all school events information and free opportunities is the district calendar.
You can view it in the school app or on the website here: https://www.granvillecsd.org/events
And, you can look at the calendar from "list view" or "calendar view" in the top right of that webpage .
Or, right underneath, you can see "this week" or "today".
And from there, you can add individual events into your own digital calendar by clicking on an event, and selecting "add to calendar".
So many options!
Give it a try!
Here's the link again to review this week and the month ahead and ensure you don't miss anything:

Do you like having great benefits and somewhat flexible hours? Are you willing to wear a little blue and gold on Fridays? If so, Granville CSD in Granville, NY wants you as their next Deputy Treasurer!
Join our team and you'll work closely with our School Business Official (like a CFO, but for public schools), HR, Payroll and everyone else in the District Office who likes to drop in to ask you questions like "do you have any chocolate" in between Purchase Order inquiries.
Granville CSD is looking for a Deputy Treasurer to take over for a valued, soon to retire member of the team. She'll stay awhile to train you but you should be prepared to bring in chocolates from time to time, says one district office staff member that shall not be named. Just kidding you don't need to bring in chocolates, but peppermint patties are great, just FYI. (HR would not agree to chocolate comments, but hopefully she won't see this.)
We work hard, we go above and beyond for our school district and we never shy away from a challenge in the name of our school community.
If you like the idea of applying your accounting know-how to public school finances and making a difference in your community, then join us!
Apply today and don't forget the peppermint patties.
P.S. Peppermint patties not required in application and chocolate comments are not approved by HR.
Visit our "Now Hiring" page for complete details of the position
