The Third Grade class at MJT participated in Ag Literacy Week. They listened to a story called Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table read by two high school students. Linda Law-Saunders from Cornell Cooperative Extension gave a presentation about farming in unique urban spaces, rural landscapes, and food bringing people together. Over the course of the next few months students will be able to keep an eye on our red wiggler worms and how they help farmers transform soil for a community farm. The students will check on them every few days and make sure the soil is moist and the worms have a snack such as a very ripe tomato, some egg shells or a banana peel.
